Solid Color Details

What Is a Solid Color Floor Coating?

A solid color floor coating is a seamless resinous flooring system that creates a clean, uniform finish over concrete. Unlike flake or quartz systems, solid color floors do not use decorative broadcast aggregate, resulting in a smoother, more consistent appearance.

Depending on the concrete, environment, and performance requirements, the system may use epoxy, polyurea, or polyaspartic coatings with a protective clear topcoat.

Where Solid Color Floor Coatings Work Best

Common Applications

Manufacturing & Industrial

A durable, seamless flooring option for production areas, light manufacturing, utility spaces, and industrial facilities. Solid color systems can be configured around equipment traffic, abrasion, chemical exposure, cleaning requirements, and the day-to-day demands of the facility.

Commercial & Retail Spaces

A clean, uniform flooring option for customer-facing and back-of-house spaces where appearance, durability, and easy maintenance all matter.

Workshops & Pole Barns

Creates a finished, easy-to-clean surface for work areas exposed to tools, equipment, foot traffic, storage, and everyday wear.

Garages & Automotive Spaces

A durable option for garages, service areas, and automotive spaces where a uniform solid-color appearance is preferred over decorative flake.

Why Choose a Solid Color Floor Coating?

Clean, Uniform Appearance
Creates a seamless single-color finish without decorative flake, quartz, grout lines, or surface patterns.

Easy to Maintain
The finished surface is easier to sweep, mop, and maintain than unfinished concrete.

Multiple Color Options
Choose from neutral grays and earth tones or more distinctive colors depending on the space and intended appearance.

Durable Surface Protection
Protects concrete from everyday traffic, abrasion, staining, spills, and general wear.

Reduced Concrete Dusting
Sealing the concrete beneath a coating system helps eliminate the dusting associated with untreated concrete surfaces.

Configurable for the Environment
Coating chemistry, texture, sheen, and topcoat can be selected based on the concrete, facility use, appearance, and performance requirements.

Why Indy Floor Coating

Solid color floors leave less room to hide imperfections than heavily textured broadcast systems, making concrete preparation, repairs, and installation details especially important.

Indy Floor Coating has been installing concrete flooring systems throughout Central Indiana since 2008. We mechanically prepare the concrete, address damaged areas as needed, and select the coating system based on the slab, environment, appearance, and performance requirements.

Whether the project is a commercial facility, workshop, basement, or garage, our goal is to install a flooring system that looks clean and performs appropriately for how the space will actually be used.

How We Install a Solid Color Floor Coating

  1. Surface Prepartion

We inspect the concrete for moisture, damage, and surface conditions, then mechanically prepare the floor using industrial diamond grinding. This removes surface contaminants and creates the proper concrete profile for a strong, long-lasting bond.

  2. Concrete Repair & Moisture Protection

Cracks, pitting, spalling, and damaged concrete are repaired as needed before coating. When moisture conditions require it, a moisture-mitigating primer can be incorporated into the system.

  3. Base & Color Coat

We apply the selected epoxy, polyurea, or polyaspartic coating system based on the concrete, environment, and performance requirements. Pigmented coating layers create the uniform color and finished appearance of the floor.

  4. Surface Detailing

The coated surface is inspected and detailed between layers as required to create a clean, consistent finish before the final protective coating is applied.

  5. Protective Topcoat

A protective clear topcoat seals the system and provides additional resistance to abrasion, staining, chemicals, and everyday wear. Traction aggregate can be incorporated based on the environment and intended use.

  6. Cure & Final Walkthrough

We inspect the completed floor and provide cure-time, return-to-service, and maintenance guidance specific to the installed coating system.
